These bird feeders are a simple and fun hands-on activity that gets the kids in the kitchen, and helping out their feathered friends!
With a few simple ingredients and a muffin tin, you’ll have homemade bird feeders in no time.

Here’s what you need to get started!
- Unflavoured gelatin (about 2 tablespoons)
- Boiling water (2/3 cup)
- Bird seed (about 2 cups)
- Muffin tin
- String or ribbon, cut into 8 inch lengths
Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water (an adult job, or have the kids help stir). Once the gelatin is dissolved, pour in the bird seeds.

Give the seeds a good stir, to ensure every seed is covered with gelatin.
Allow the seed mixture to sit for about 2 minutes. You want the seeds to soak up some of the gelatin mixture.

Scoop the bird seed mixture into the muffin tins, until they are about 2/3 full.
Place both ends of string into the mixture, creating a loop at the other end.

Scoop more bird seed mixture on top, trapping the ribbon ends.

Allow to dry for a few hours, or over night. Remove from muffin tin and hang in the trees outside!

These turned out so great and the little ones had a great time making them!
